"Cute, clean and cosy. This property suited our family very well. Our children loved the spiral staircase and the space to play outside."
    April, July 2017

"Absolutely stunning place, mixed with amazing hosts! Had a big camper van that needed some guidance with the driveway, but John was more then happy to lend a hand. Incredible views from the spa and bedroom, wish we had more time to stay longer!"
    Sebastian, July 2017

"Jenny and John's cottage was lovely for the two of us. It's not much of a drive from town but it's so quiet and serene. The view was stunning both from the cottage and the spa and it wasn't cold in the cottage either, despite being the middle of winter. It was a cosy and lovely stay, and we easily could have spent more than two nights. You can tell Jenny and John are super hosts the cottage is so well kitted out that we never had to enquire about anything and had lots of privacy. Can definitely recommend the coastal cottage for a getaway for couples, families and friends."
    Rikki, July 2017

"Very nice little cottage, a special cosy retreat hidden in the bush with beautiful views of the harbour. Extremely helpful host."
    Konrad, July 2017

"Beautiful setting. I stayed with a friend and it was perfect for what we wanted. Cosy, warm and with a wonderful view. We used the spa and John and Jenny couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating."
    Emma, June 2017

"Great location, with a lovely view from the bed. Great people, great hospitality. Would stay again."
    Joel, June 2017

"We had the most lovely stay at this sweet little cottage this weekend. It was in a great location, nice and peaceful. We specifically booked due to the fact it had a spa that we could use. It was a little walk down from the cottage, and we needed to let the owners know when we wanted to use it, but they were always available and willing to give us access when we requested it. The spa is actually incredible - views over the water, under the dreamy star lit sky, with no noise or light pollution to be seen. Magical. We would defintely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who was wanting a relaxing couple of nights (or more!) in Akaroa."

"Beautiful coastal cottage to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of akaroa, Jenny and Johns place has everything you need for a relaxing stay, John is so accomodating and friendly, enjoying a spa under the stars is a real treat!"
    Faye, May 2017

"The Akaroa Coastal Studio is a fabulous place to stay, especially for newcomers. It is clean, only a few minute drive to town, scenic, as well as very welcoming. We loved using the spa and waking up to the beautiful view each morning! I would highly recommend this stay."
    Alexis, May 2017

"Beautiful place in a charming village. The hosts were lovely and informative. Extremely lovely visit."
    Jeff, May 2017

This was exactly what we were looking for. The cottage was clean and had all amenities we needed. We spent each morning and evening out on the porch. We even walked into Akaroa one day and to Onuku Beach. Some commented on the footpath, and yes, it is on a but of a grade, but my 70+ y/o mother did fine on it. The birdsong and views are incomparable with other properties in the area. We felt right at home and enjoyed our distance from other homes and people. Thanks for sharing the cottage!""
    Kari, April 2017

"One of the most incredible views and secluded decks to enjoy a sunset going around! Friendly, helpful, easy and efficient."
    Viktor, April 2017

"Beautiful home, fantastic location. Awesome hosts, I highly recommend John and Jenny."
    Mike, April 2017

"Fantastic room attached to Jenny and John's home. Everything was very clean and comfortable-- GREAT room. Jenny was very friendly and greeted us with coffee and cookies, which was perfect after a day of travel. We also got a chance to go out in their jacuzzi at night under the stars, which was amazing! Such a great place to stay."
    Jocelyn, April 2017

"Great place to stay! Jenny and John are so warm and welcoming. Would recommend highly to others."
    Susanne, April 2017

"We loved our stay. The description of the house was really clear and suited us perfectly. Thanks very much! "
    Kimberley, April 2017

"The house, perched on a steep slope overlooking the bay, afforded us many chances to appreciate the ever-changing weather and wind. It is far enough from the village to assure peace and quiet, yet only five minutes by car to all conveniences, including a first-rate movie theater, restaurants and shops. The accommodations are most pleasant, and complete with all amenities. "
    Andrea, March 2017

"So beautiful and peaceful place! The view is awesome and the house is so lovely. I could have stayed here for ever..."
    Laurine, March 2017

"Booked this as a honeymoon gift for our friends. They absolutely loved the place. Went out on the boat on their second day and very excitedly relayed their experiences, seeing dolphins and penguins! Overall a fabulous experience and would definitely recommend."

    Sam, February 2017

    Sian, January 2017

"Great location awesome view and the house was great."
    Gail, January 2017

"John and Jenny are wonderful hosts. We really felt at home away from home. We will miss our chats during breakfast or while watching the sun go down on the deck."
    Martin, January 2017

"My wife and I stumbled upon Jenny and John's beautiful studio last minute after deciding to spend the night in Akaroa instead of Christchurch. We got lucky as they had just had a cancellation, and when we arrived we were speechless. The view outside of the window in the studio is stunning, and from the second we walked in Jenny, John and their son Ollie welcomed us like family. The studio itself has its own entrance right from where we parked our car and everything inside was spotless and clean. They helped us find a spot for dinner and John even made a reservation for us. Their son Ollie also took us out for a sail last minute despite the short notice. We cannot recommend sailing with Ollie high enough - he taught us the basics and was super friendly and accommodating. A phenomenal place to stay in a beautiful setting with the best people you can hope to host you!"
    Steven, December 2016

"Jenny and John's place is the best place we stayed during our trips in NZL, amazing view, top class design, much higher than what we expected. Most importantly, Jenny and John are lovely people! People was saying that the most beautiful scenery is people, I think it is especially true in NZL and in Akaroa. We will go back again!"
    Amy and John, November 2016

"This cottage is a wonderful place to stay in Akaroa! We enjoyed our two nights staying there watching countless shining stars in bed and woken up by birds singing in the morning. It's tidy, private, beautiful and interesting. Great thanks to our kind hosts. We wish we would come back here again next time!"
    Olivia, November 2016

"Awesome place. Amazing location with a stunning view overlooking the harbour. John and Jenny were very welcoming into their beautiful home. Highly recommended stay."
    Jack, November 2016

"Petit studio, très propre, calme, vue exceptionnelle sur le fjord, salon et deck avec la même vue, partagés avec les propriétaires. Jenny et John sont adorables, donnent de leur temps et beaucoup de conseils pertinents ( restaurants, balades) Une adresse à recommander, à condition d'avoir un véhicule"
    Michel, November 2016

"Jenny and John are great people who gave us the privacy we required and yet were very interesting to talk to when we shared a coffee. This room (with kitchenette and bathroom) has a splendid view and is a real retreat from the bustle of others... yet it is only 3km from the delightful Akaroa fishing village centre. It is no effort to pop down to the village for sundowner fish and chips and then return to the tranquility of this modern studio apartment space. This room is a great place to read, write, watch your fav movies or just relax and watch the incredible view change with the weather. Akaroa is only about 70km from Christchurch and is a such a beautiful destination set into an exquisite harbour. Highly recommended. We had a fantastic time. Thank you Jenny and John!"
    Susan, November 2016

"Looking out the window is like having front row seats to the beautiful view of Akaroa harbour! The studio is wonderfully comfortable, cosy, clean and smartly laid out, and I think we had the best sleep here of our 2 weeks holiday. We appreciated all the thoughtful details and personal touches put into the design and comprehensive amenities; the pride that John and Jenny take in providing hospitality really shines through this lovely little studio."
    Grace, November 2016

"John and Jenny provided excellent hospitality, they gave us a warm welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The room was very neat and tidy and had an amazing view! Would highly recommend to anyone :)"
    Daniel, November 2016

"Absolutely wonderful stay. As a bird and nature lover it was lovely to wake up to various bird songs, and the stunning view. Very comfortable and relaxing, we did not want to leave. Would come back if I'm lucky enough to to visit New Zealand again. The cottage was perfect."
    Melissa, November 2016

"This place is simply amazing! It is rustic, secluded, and the view is to die for. We could not get over the amazing slide-away front door that opened to a porch with a panoramic, unobstructed view of stunning Akaroa Harbor. We enjoyed more than one glass of wine on that porch taking in the sun and the serenity. Yet, for all its seclusion, this home is just minutes from Akaroa and easy to access all the different gorgeous hills and bays of the Banks Pennisula. We would highly recommend."
    Emily, November 2016

"Was worth the hike just for the view. Didn't realise was so far from Akaroa, but wasn't a problem. Was a very relaxing place to be and the sheltered patio was ideal. Had a windy day but still managed to sit on the verandah. Would recommend for a quiet getaway, perfect for the couple that want to be alone. Sorry were no donkeys, love donkeys, have 2 of my own!"
    Laura, October 2016

"We had a friendly welcome from John when we arrived, he left us to our own devices but was also very happy to sit and have a chat which was great as he's so knowledgeable about the area and is good company! The studio is very comfortable with all the big and small mod-cons you could ever need while traveling. It is nicely appointed and the shower and bed are great! The view from the room and the balcony is nothing short of magnificent. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend to others."
    Liene, October 2016

"One of the most amazing place I've stayed, the view is breath taking and the room is clean and cozy. It comes with lots of surprises, you just have to find it. Thank you Jenny and John, we had a great time in Akaroa!"
    Darren, October 2016

"The period cottage is set in a forest with lots of native birds. If you are looking for a quiet place to get away from the city- then it is perfect. It is a small cottage that fits in nicely with the Akaroa settlement. The walk from the car down an incline to the cottage is through a forest, so just be careful not to bring a large heavy suitcase."
    Alana, October 2016

"John make us felt like home, I enjoy all conversation and kindness! About the room, it's cosy with a great view and the space is really good. I wish stay more so I strongly recommend this B&B. Thanks for everything."
    Rodolpho, October 2016

"Jenny and John's studio provided us a beautiful and tranquil escape within minutes of the main centre of Akaroa. Absolutely amazing views, warm and cozy, with the comforts of home. Jenny was absolutely lovely and we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant stay. Thank you!"
    Emma, October 2016

    Ruyuan, October 2016

"Our hosts Jenny and John made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed their company and knowledge of the area. Akaroa is a beautiful and pristine location with a harbour animal sighting cruise recommended as well as driving on the Summit drive and down into Okains Bay with Museum."
    Leo, September 2016

"Nice stay with amazing views"
    Jared, September 2016

"An extraordinarily quiet place to stay with an amazing view across the water, perfect for a restful break. The unit itself is quite small, but John and Jenny very warmly invited us to sit on their large deck for as long as we wished. The decor is thoughtful, the unit is neat and clean, and the home-made biscuits were fabulous. The only cooking equipment is a microwave, but it is a small kitchen so that is appropriate. Very good shower and comfy bed. Thank you! "
    Glenda, September 2016

"John and Jenny, with their gorgeous dogs were the loveliest of hosts. I felt right at home in our little studio. The view from our bed was absolutely breathtaking... I was sad to leave it! The bathroom was modern and very clean. The heating in the room was great. I'd highly reccommend this stay. We hope to come back in the future."
    Zoe, August 2016

"A stunning view over the bay and is very well equipped with any imaginable item, all of high quality. The ensuite is well designed and comfortable and the kitchenette is small but functional, again filled with quality items. We had two days of rain and the living space of the apartment is in such a situation on the small side. The property is out of the business of the village but not too far to go to for a short visit."
    Jantina, August 2016

"The room was very clean, warm and had a stunning view. Would love to stay again"
    Nick, August 2016

    Ben, July 2016

"John greeted us and showed us around the beautifully designed home and studio unit - the views are indeed as wonderful as depicted by the pictures in the listing! Located a few minutes away from town, with an amazing view of the bay and mountains from the windows. We were made to feel very welcome during our 2 nights stay by John & Jenny, and their 2 friendly dogs (one of whom decided to take us on an impromptu tour of the grounds all by herself....*and* teach us how to play fetch!). For anyone having plans to drop by Akaroa, I would not hesitate to recommend this listing for your stay."
    Ming Tze, July 2016

    Nadine, June 2016

"We had a fantastic stay with John and Jenny. They were fantastic hosts and very welcoming. The studio is amazing. The views are spectacular out over the bay and you won't won't to leave. Reading a book out on the deck in the sun was great and they have really thought of everything you would need in the studio, even down to the fine little details. We couldn't recommend this listing more."
    Colin, June 2016

"The property is quaint with so much character we loved it. John and Jenny were delightful to deal with and very accommodating of 3 generations. To us it was perfect."
    Helen, April 2016

"Prior to checking in, we went on the Akaroa Dolphins cruise (which was great). On the way back in, we saw a gorgeous home, and even took a photo of it from the boat. Turns out, we took a picture of Jenny and John's place! What a beautiful piece of architecture. Unfortunately we were unable to meet John and Jenny, but John's mother met us and was wonderful and hospitable! The studio itself is beautiful. Great space with a fantastic view."
    Jeffrey, April 2016

"Beautiful location with great views of Akaroa. The kids loved the donkeys and the stay all needs catered for our family. Including exercise programme up the path."
    Allie. April 2016

"Great hosts and accommodation! We arrived late and Jenny and John were still very welcoming- we had a great chat over some tea. Lucky they are 'night owls'. The room is clean and well furnished, it looks out onto the water which is great to wake up to. Definitely recommend this Air BnB!"
    Anton, April 2016

"Although we were sharing their house, the studio felt very private. The view from the room was incredible and everything was beautifully presented and looked after. A truly memorable place to stay."
    Jordan, March 2016

"We spent 2 nights in this unique place! The stunning view takes your breath away! The house is only a few minutes from Akaroa centre and yet it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere! Jenny and John are amazing and nice people, we could have spoken with them for hours! Thanks to John and his son, we had a fantastic experience with dolphins provided by Ecoseaker (a lot better than Black Cat who cancelled all their cruises of the day)! We really appreciated to share this time with our hosts and we definitely encourage any other guests to stay in a such beautiful place!"

    Enrico, March 2016

"We stayed here for one night, but definitely wished we stayed longer. Beautiful place with a spectacular view and a completely separate space if you need it - but, we enjoyed chatting with John and Jenny. Their son also does sails around the area, which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip."
    Rene, March 2016

"I gifted my husband with a weekend away in Akaroa. He enjoyed his stay and said the views were amazing!"
    Barbara, March 2016

"John greeted us with coffee and cookies in his beautiful living room overlooking the water. As I went on about the great view, I didn't realize that our room would have the same view. The house is in a spectacular, secluded setting & the bed was wonderfully comfortable. It's a short drive to Akaroa and the activities there."

Jenny and John are wonderful, warm, and friendly hosts- thank you so much for the sailing trip and the interesting information about Akaroa. We will definitely be back!"
    Alicia, February 2016

"We loved the secluded location, the views and the birdsong. Will definitely return for a longer stay next time. Thanks John and Jenny :)"
    Liz, February 2016

"We just landed in New Zealand and drove to John & Jenny's accommodations. You are immediately stunned by the shear magnitude of how beautiful a place can be. The host greeted us, let us know the local information we needed and then let us have a very quiet evening/morning in their lovely home. My wife and I love staying "out of town" and felt this matched our needs perfectly. You must go and see; you may not want to leave (as we didn't). OMG beautiful!"
    David, February 2016

"John made us feel very welcome. The room is self contained with its own access door and bathroom. The views were absolutely stunning, from the bedroom and also from the amazing deck that John kindly shared with us. The room is about a 5min drive from the main Akaroa township so suits someone with a car. Would definitely recommend to others."
    Tim, February 2016

"Lovely place, lovely hosts."
    Wayne, February 2016

"Akaroa Coastal Studio is just a short 2minutes drive from the town center. John and Jenny have such a gorgeous home with breathtaking views. They are such lovely hosts and made our first night in New Zealand such a welcoming one. Studio is small but well-equipped with everything you need. Recommended!"
    Kylie, February 2016

"Jenny and John were great hosts. Very and made us feel comfortable. The view from the house is ridiculous and very private. The donkeys are very sweet and make you want to go back and get some of your own. Their son Ollie may be available to take you out on his sail boat (for a fee) if you inquire ahead of time."
    Arvand, February 2016

"Arrived at this unbelievably incredible home to be welcomed by John a most interesting and knowledgeable fellow. The views are beyond words. Convenient to the cute seaside town We did a swim with the Dolphins which I would recommend asking johns son about before booking as he is involved. John also has two adorable donkeys that we visited frequently. Hated to leave!!!"
    Kate, February 2016

"It is a very nice experience staying at their house for a night. The senic you can view from their house is amazing. John was being very friendly and warm to us so as his little dog Melly. I also meet the lovely donkys. Their home made breakfast is a must-try!"
    Harry, February 2016

They helped us plan our next stops and routes to enjoy. And they have a sweet dog and two adorable donkeys! Highly recommend staying there."
    Doug, January 2016

"Remote, but only 30 minutes walk into town through a not busy road. all commodities to make it 'home'. dishwasher, oven, washing machine and drier. Definitely you can not have feet injuries to reach the house, but if you are well and liking a remote place to recharge, then definitely this is the place to go."
    Simone, January 2016

"We arrived at Jenny and Johns House with a "Wow" - like it is in the pictures, the views are amazing. The flat is a bit expensive, but so worth it - there is everything you need, and you can get in touch with them. There couldnt have been a better place to end our journey through New Zealand. We can just highly recommend them :)"
    Anne, January 2016

"Wonderful first airbnb experience for us. Jenny and John are very lovely people who made our first nights in New Zealand happier than we ever expected. The studio was arranged very kind and the view out of the window was breathtaking. The homemade breakfast was very tasty - 5 stars! Jenny and John are wonderful hosts who make you feel very welcome. We would stay there again any time."
    Franziska, January 2016

"Beautiful views across the harbour, very private, comfortable interesting house, pleasant out door living, good amenities, only negatives not being within walking distance of town and access down to the house with parking up on the road only, not sure if we would return in the future but did enjoy our stay there."
    Robin, January 2016

"We stayed at the Studio for two nights. In that days, the weather was unfortunate, but we were able to enjoy a stay and scenery. Wonderful location, very comfortable and felt tranquility deeply. Jenny & John have the best hospitality. Also Miily, their dog, too. There is something gleaming in their sense. We were not good at English, but Jenny & John contacted very warmly us, then we were able to enjoy the conversation. And they gave us some advices about the Akaroa sightseeing. That was very useful. The Studio is a little far from the center of Akaroa, but does not have any problem at all if you drive car. It is the distance of just several minutes by car. And you can find the car parking easily and immediately in the center of Akaroa. You should stay here by all means if you go to Akaroa."
    Shigeki, January 2016

"I had a lovely stay with Jenny & John over NYE, in town for a local wedding this couldn't have been more perfect. The apartment had everything I could need, and was clean, comfortable and accommodating - this was the perfect B&B. Waking up to that view is nothing short of magical! Definitely recommend."
    Rachael, January 2016

"Awesome place to stay in Akaroa with million dollar views. Jenny and John are amazing hosts, very welcoming and accommodating - happy to provide recommendations of where to eat in town over a cup of tea looking out at the harbour! The studio is great, private if you want it to be, but you are welcome to use the rest of the house, too. Great shower and bathroom facilities and kitchenette all equipped for your stay. Would definitely recommend."
    Aimee, December 2015

"A tranquil remote hideaway. No neighbours or people unless you want to go looking for them. Great bird life."
    Sue, December 2015

"A really lovely place to stay, comfortable bed, extra blankets if required, heating, everything you need. We paid extra to have breakfast provided which we enjoyed in Jenny and John's kitchen/dining room. It was also a huge bonus to have our washing done. Fabulous views of harbour, cruise ships and opposite mountains. The property is very near to Akaroa, lots of activities of interest, we spent five hours travelling with the local postman on his rounds, up and down mountains visiting a number of different bays."
    Catherine, December 2015

"Bottom line upfront, Jenny & John B&B is a must stay if you're traveling to Akaroa. The room is just as it is advertised and the view is amazing. We were welcomed into their home with a warm greeting. I would recommend this location to my friends and family. If I travel back to Akaroa this will be the first place I contact. Also, their breakfast is a must, Jenny made us homemade bread that was to die for. This is a true 5 star accommodation. Jenny and John, thank you again for your warm welcome and great conversations."

John and Jenny made us feel right at home and told us what to see Akaroa when we were there and took the time to talk to us and made us feel like family! Jenny and John were so helpful and even helped my wife's cough by giving her honey and lemons! We had a A+ experience!"

    Claire, November 2015

"First of all, Akaroa is a beautiful and charming waterfront town. It's quiet, scenic, and very laid back. John and Jenny's place perfectly highlights all the lovely things about the area. The house is right on the cliff overlooking the harbor, secluded, but still only five minutes from the middle of town. The view from their covered deck, as well as from the big windows in the guest room, is incredible. The guest suite is fully amenitized with bathroom, small kitchen area, door directly outside, TV, wifi, etc. And Jenny and John couldn't have been more gracious hosts. They are very nice people with lots of great recommendations for your time in Akaroa. Only wish we could have stayed longer!"

We would most definitely return and happily encourage others to enjoy as we did. Many thanks again John and Jenny for hosting us so wonderfully well."

"Was the perfect little honeymoon get away. Tucked away in the bush with a stunning view. You need to not be afraid of steps as the bedrooms are up a spiral staircase & also getting down to the house is a path through pinetrees with steps, we loved this though!! Was clean and tidy with plenty of space! Ideal chill out time with boardgames. Location was perfect as we wanted to be out of the town a little bit and private. Loved visiting the donkeys too!!"
    Woody, September 2015

"We had a wonderful stay, sadly two nights wasn't long enough. Will definitely return!"

"We loved staying at the Coastal Studio B & B and were welcomed by our hosts John and Jenny with a cup of tea and biscuits. Their place is set on the hillside overlooking the stunning Akaroa Harbour, and the views are aplenty. The studio was self contained and cosy with everything we needed to enjoy a night in while a storm was raging outside. The breakfast was delicious - organge juice, muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad, berry friandes, home made bread and preserves. Would highly recommend"
    Kate, July 2015

"Where do I begin? I was traveling with a dear friend and Jenny & John and our experience in Akaroa was the highlight of our New Zealand trip. Their studio is cozy (has great kitchen essentials and privacy), their home is just gorgeous--beautifully located right on the water. Jenny went out of her way to accommodate and bake for our dietary needs and John helped us with all the travel/weather/hiking info we needed. It was so nice, we added an extra day to our stay. It was really special to spend time with them and we were actually sad to leave."

"Lovely well-equipped cottage, cosy and clean. The setting is extremely quiet and private and the views are amazing. Woke the first morning and only had to roll over in bed to watch about 30 bottlenose dolphins swimming past. Akaroa is a piece of paradise. Swam with Hectors dolphins. Played golf on their delightful little 18-hole course. Couldn't have enjoyed our week more."

Highly recommend anyone spend a night or two at this bach!"

The room was very comfortable and clean, the breakfast great and the owners lovely with a lot of information about the area and NZ. Even though the house is not in the centre of Akaroa it was an easy car ride or nice half an hour walk away from the main parts of town. We would definitely recommend to everyone!"

"Very good Great location, very secluded. Incredible views"
    Steve, January 2014

"The first thing I said to myself when I got to the front porch was OMG, I should have booked this place for more than 2 nights... This cottage is rustic but comfortable. Convenient kitchen, comfy-cosy beds, but best of all - the view from the front deck is priceless!!! and Mum really enjoyed stargazing from bed and waking up in the morning to a choir of birds. When packing next time - prefer 2 hand-carried bags to one large suitcase with the footpath and spiral staircase. Whole family loved it!"
    Sarah, January 2014

"A lovely 2 bedroom cottage with a fabulous view. Very comfortable with everything we needed. We had a great visit. We booked with very short notice but this wasn't a problem at all. We arrived at the cottage in the dark while it was raining. It was lovely to find the heat pump on and the cottage warm and toasty."

"The Coastal Cottage was the perfect place from which to enjoy Akaroa. The bach was clean, tidy, and well-equipped for a weekend away. The views over the harbor were unforgettable and watching the sun rise and set from the porch was breathtaking. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Akaroa. One suggestion- arrive when there is a bit of sunlight as there is a steep walk down to the bach from the road and the road is very windy. John however was astute in warning us."
    Meghan, May 2013

"Our host was friendly, and respected our privacy. We were given the opportunity to chat if we wanted to, and we did. We were introduced to the donkeys and the dog, and we enjoyed our conversation. "Wow, I think this is by far the best place to stay in Akaroa. Beautiful clean and cozy house, kids loved the games provided, the view is absolutely spectacular, the alfresco area fantastic we saw dolphins and the mules were a nice surprise to my daughter. Would love to come back to this beautiful place. Perhaps I shouldn't be so positive and keep it a secret to myself, but that would not do any justice to the great stay we had."

"Recommended if you need a quiet place to stay to recharge your batteries. Great batch! Very well equipped and comfortable. Fantastic views and not far out of Akaroa - a place well worth a visit - only thing missing is a first class French Patisserie. Long story, but the owner is a great bloke who helped make our rescheduled tour (Christchurch RWC pool matches) memorable."

Akaroa is a small seaside settlement, 80 kilometres by road from Christchurch. The Maori name translates as 'long bay' and refers to the harbour, in the crater of an extinct volcano that has been flooded by the sea. The town itself is truly a coastal retreat, at the end of the only road linking it to the city. You will not find it by accident, passing through on your way to somewhere else. You must decide to come to Akaroa and when you arrive... the rest of the world will seem a million miles away.
